Pain Tracking
Last updated: April 23, 2026
Privacy summary
Pain Tracking is designed with your privacy as a top priority. All your health data is stored exclusively on your device β never uploaded or shared without your action. This app displays ads via Google AdMob to remain free; only standard advertising identifiers are used for ads, and your health data is never shared with advertisers. No accounts required, no health data in the cloud.
Introduction
Welcome to Pain Tracking. We understand that your health information is deeply personal and sensitive. This privacy policy explains how our app handles your data and what measures we take to protect your privacy.
This app was designed specifically for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment to track their pain levels, side effects, and symptoms. We believe that health data should remain under your complete control.
What data we collect (and don't collect)
We do NOT collect or transmit:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- Location data
- Your health data β pain entries, symptoms, medications, notes β these stay on your device only
- Usage analytics or behavior statistics
- Firebase or Google Analytics data
Google AdMob may collect (for ad serving only):
- Device advertising identifier (Android Ad ID)
- IP address (for general location/ad targeting)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
- Device information (model, OS version, language)
Your health data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it. Ad data collected by Google AdMob relates only to ad delivery and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Local data storage
All health information you enter in Pain Tracking is stored locally on your device:
- Pain entries and intensity levels
- Side effects and symptoms
- Chemotherapy round information
- Medication records
- Daily check-ins and notes
This data is stored using a secure local database on your Android device and is only accessible by the app. No external servers are involved in storing your health information.
Advertising β Google AdMob
Pain Tracking is free to use and is supported by ads delivered through Google AdMob. Ads are displayed in the Dashboard and Add Entry screens and are clearly labeled.
Google AdMob may use the Android Advertising ID and other standard identifiers to serve relevant ads. No personal health data is ever shared with Google AdMob or any advertiser.
How AdMob works
- Ads require an active internet connection to load. If you are offline, no ads will appear.
- AdMob may personalize ads based on your general interests and device information.
- You can opt out of personalized ads on your Android device: Settings β Google β Ads β Delete advertising ID or enable "Opt out of Ads Personalization".
- AdMob's data practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
The app itself does not access, read, or transmit any AdMob data. Ad delivery is handled entirely by the Google Mobile Ads SDK operating independently of the app's health data.
Data export & sharing
The app provides options to export and share your data:
Export to JSON
You can export all your data as a JSON file to your device storage. This backup file is saved to a location you choose and remains under your control.
Share to cloud services
You can share your backup file using Android's share feature to any service you prefer (Google Drive, email, etc.). The app does not connect to any cloud service directly β you always control where your data goes.
Data export and sharing are always initiated by you. The app will never automatically upload or sync your health data anywhere.
Offline operation
All core features of Pain Tracking work completely offline. No internet connection is required to log entries, view history, or manage your data. This means:
- No health data is transmitted over the internet during normal use
- You can use all health tracking features anywhere, anytime, without connectivity
- Your health information stays secure on your device
- An internet connection is only used by Google AdMob to load and display ads. If you are offline, ads simply will not appear β no functionality is affected.
No health data tracking
We do not include any proprietary tracking or analytics in our app. Specifically, we do not use:
- Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics
- Crash reporting services that collect personal user data
- Behavior tracking or usage pattern collection by us
- Any sharing of your health data with third parties
Note: Google AdMob (our ad partner) operates its own ad-serving processes as described in the Advertising section above. This is limited to ad delivery and does not involve your health data in any way.
Third-party services
Pain Tracking integrates with the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob: Provides in-app advertising. AdMob may collect standard ad identifiers and interaction data. Your health data is never shared. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Android System Share: When you choose to share your backup, Android's built-in share feature is used. The app does not control what happens to your data after you share it with another app.
- Storage Access Framework: Used when you export backups to allow you to choose where to save files on your device.
Data security
We take the following measures to keep your data secure:
- Health data is stored in the app's private storage area, inaccessible to other apps
- No network permissions are required for core health-tracking functionality
- Exported files are saved to locations you control
- The app follows Android security best practices
Please note that you are responsible for securing your device (screen lock, encryption, etc.) to protect all apps and their data.
Your rights
Since all health data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Access: View all your data anytime within the app
- Export: Export all your data as a JSON file or PDF report
- Delete: Delete individual entries or all data from the Settings screen, or by uninstalling the app
- Portability: Your exported data can be imported back into the app
- Ad opt-out: You can reset or delete your Android Advertising ID in your device settings to limit ad personalization
Children's privacy
Pain Tracking is intended for adults managing their cancer treatment. The app is not directed at children under 13. We recommend that children use the app under adult supervision. AdMob is configured for general audiences.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
